Statistics is a powerful tool for critically interpreting reality and making informed decisions, which is why it has gradually been incorporated into early childhood curricula. From this perspective, the aim of this article is to offer guidelines and resources to promote learning with understanding of the different phases of the statistical investigative cycle. To this end, firstly, the main knowledge that early childhood education teachers must mobilize is described; and, secondly, new manipulatives are presented to support the learning of the phases of data collection, organisation and representation. It is concluded that these resources allow to improve the understanding of the statistical investigative cycle through visualisation and manipulation and, consequently, they serve to begin to discover that learning statistics is much more than representing data in graphs or reading them in previously elaborated graphs
