Un misterioso y olvidado epigrama sobre Garcilaso
Share
The Neapolitan Hispanist Eugenio Mele revealed in a late 19th-century journal an epigram by Cosme Anisio about Garcilaso, which he later decided to conceal. It is a votive epigram in which Cosme, drawing from similar epigrams in Greek and Latin, presents the Toledan poet offering the products of the earth to the god Priapus. Mele may have made such a drastic decision for moral reasons or perhaps for associating Garcilaso with the god due to his physical appearance. The Latin name Charisylus and the preserved effigy in his tomb in Toledo may have led him to believe so.
