Percepción sobre el impacto de la COVID-19 de la persona con enfermedad oncológica: proyecto de investigación cualitativo

INTRODUCTION: Every day, in Girona, 11 people are diagnosed with cancer. A diagnosis of cancer can mean a radical change in a person's life at all levels. For some people living with cancer means: resilience; rediscovering emotions; being a consequence of treatment; and from March 2020, in addition, living a confinement and a pandemic because of Covid-19. On March 11, 2020, the WHO decreed a global pandemic because of the emergency situation resulting from the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection. Fear, uncertainty, anxiety and concern were feelings provoked by the situation. Health systems were severely affected and had to adapt to the wave of people affected by the virus. All non-urgent operations were stopped, outpatient services were suspended and disease screening programs, among others, were halted. A lot of people stopped going to health centers for fear of Covid-19 infection. And many vulnerable people, such as people diagnosed with cancer, became more vulnerable. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to explore how people diagnosed with cancer and undergoing some form of active treatment experienced those months. What new feelings arose or what feelings were aggravated. What perception they had of the performance of the health systems and whether they believe that their needs were covered ​
