Implantación e implementación de la formación profesional dual en Ecuador: oferta académica desarrollo infantil integral 2013

In recent years, dual vocational training has become an international strategy aimed at improving
learning systems and professional practices at the technical and technological training levels. This
article presents the first phase of analysis on the elements and associations involved in the
implementation of the dual system in the Ecuadorian context. From there, it will be possible to
determine the characteristics, motivations and strategies that drive the creation of the Technological
career in Integral Child Development, (TDII, for its acronym in Spanish), the object of this study. The
approach is qualitative and it is part of a Doctoral Research aimed at analyzing the implantation and
implementation of the dual vocational training model of the TDII career offered by public institutes of
higher technical and technological education in Ecuador as of 2013. The research methods used are:
semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The results indicate a paradigmatic change within the
structure of the higher education system. However, the implementation of the dual system alone is
still insufficient to achieve the tripartite involvement of the State, academia and the productive sector.
A similar scenario is presented by the implementation of the dual education model in the TDII career.
The main weaknesses are related to planning, communication and theoretical and practical academic
follow-up between the student, the training institute, the training entity, and the social collective. This,
despite the fact that they have accepted and positively recognized the dual career
