Comprender y usar las matemáticas: cambios curriculares, desafíos docentes y oportunidades sociales = Understanding and using mathematics: curriculumchanges, teaching challenges, and social opportunities

Abstract

Tree areas of actions are described so that mathematics education has a role in individual and social progress:1) curricular changes, focused on promoting mathematical competence; 2) teaching challenges, focused onchanging the vision of mathematics and its teaching and reflecting on one's practice; 3) the social opportunitiesderived from these changes and challenges, focused on the guiding principles for mathematics education andteaching practices. It is concluded that to achieve these goals, the commitment of all the agents involved isessential: heads of educational policy; school managers; advisers and / or specialists in mathematics; teachersand families

Se describen tres ámbitos de acciones para que la educación matemática contribuya al progresoindividual y social: 1) los cambios curriculares, focalizados en promover la competencia matemática;2) los desafíos docentes, focalizados en cambiar la visión de las matemáticas y su enseñanza juntocon reflexionar sobre la propia práctica; 3) las oportunidades sociales que derivan de estos cambios y desafíos, focalizadas en los principios rectores para la educación matemática y las prácticas deenseñanza. Se concluye que para lograr estas metas es imprescindible el compromiso de todos losagentes implicados: los responsables de las políticas educativas; los directores de centros educativos;los asesores y/o especialistas en matemáticas; los maestros y las familias
