Abstract

This thesis examines one of the most unique novels of contemporary Catalan narrative, Fortuny (1983) by Pere Gimferrer. The aims of the present study are mainly two: to shed light on one of the most important, but least studied, works of Pere Gimferrer, examining the Catalan language facet of this bilingual (or multilingual)) narrator and prose writer; to analyze critical reception of the work and show how the novel has evolved from the time of publication in 1983 until today.

Aquesta tesi estudia una de les novel•les més singulars de la narrativa catalana contemporània, Fortuny (1983) de Pere Gimferrer. Els objectius de l’estudi d’aquesta novel•la són principalment dos: fer llum sobre una de les obres més importants, però menys estudiades, de Pere Gimferrer, per tal d’aprofundir en la vessant de narrador i de prosista en llengua catalana d’aquest escriptor bilingüe (o plurilingüe); i analitzar la recepció crítica de l’obra per tal de mostrar com ha evolucionat la novel•la des del moment de la seva publicació l’any 1983 fins a l’actualitat
