The article is presented as an introduction to the monograph Cinematic Pathologies: Representations and Depictions of the Diseased Body, coordinated by the three authors. The article lays the foundations for an issue in which the impact that medicine had on the development of the image is investigated from the perspective of archaeology and visual culture
