Quan l'aigua és un be escàs. La crisi de 1817 a la ciutat de Girona

Abstract

The drought of 1812-1824 has been one of the most severe of the contemporary era. The article studies the lack of rain that was experienced in the city of Girona between late December 1816 and mid-May 1817 based on municipal acts, the chapter acts of the cathedral and a memory of the archconfraternity of the Puríssima Sang. In this way, the acts of rogative that occurred in the city are analyzed in order to assess the severity of the drought and, subsequently, identify the social consequences of this phenomenon and the growing conflict around access and use of water.

La sequera de 1812-1824 ha estat una de les més severes de l’època contemporània. L’article estudia la manca de pluges que es va viure a la ciutat de Girona entre finals de desembre de 1816 i mitjans de maig de 1817 a partir de les actes municipals, les actes capitulars de la catedral i una memòria de l’arxiconfraria de la Puríssima Sang. D’aquesta manera, s’analitzen els actes de rogativa que es produïren a la ciutat per tal de poder valorar la gravetat de la sequera i, posteriorment, identificar les conseqüències socials d’aquest fenomen i la conflictivitat creixent entorn de l’accés i l’ús de l’aigua.
