Actuació infermera en el trastorn bipolar: prevenció del risc suïcida i atenció a la família: revisió bibliogràfica sistemàtica

Background: Bipolar disorder is a chronic psychiatric disorder that causes intense
fluctuations in mood between euphoria and depression. Nursing boarding is a key
point given the high suicide rates and the significant impact of the family
accompaniment presence that characterize this disorder.
Objectives: The main purpose of this review is to know the key role that nursing
plays in handling bipolar disorder. At the same time, we must analyse the suicide risk
of this and, finally, the role of nurse in family support.
Methods: The working methodology has been a systematic bibliographic review of
papers based on the scientific evidence of the past 5 years. The search for them has
been carried out in the following databases: Pubmed-Medline, CINAHL, Cochrane
Library and Dialnet. The implementation of this review has been carried out
according to the methodology set out in the PRISMA protocol.
Results: A final result of 15 articles, included in the present bibliographic review, has
been obtained: 4 randomized clinical trials, 3 observational studies, 2 narrative
reviews, 3 qualitative and 1 quantitative investigations.
Conclusions: Nursing professionals play an essential role in caring for bipolar
disorder, through evaluations, monitoring, health education, early prevention and
detection, setting clinical criteria and therapeutic strategies by combining
psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy to bring good therapeutic adherence along
with wealth and potential to the individualized care plan. Psychoeducational sessions
and the active involvement of the family encourage an organized life, thus
decreasing suicidal ideation and overloading
