In this paper we present a few hundred sayings, paroemias, adages and
aphorisms collected from our parents’ and grandparents’ everyday speech, most of which are no longer known, let alone used, by the young generations. Many of these sayings belong to the Catalan language
used in the mid-20th century in the region of Girona, although some influences from NE Girona province subdialects can also be noticed.
Aquest treball presenta uns centenars de parèmies, adagis i aforismes diversos que els autors hem recollit del parlar habitual dels nostres pares i avis i que, per a les generacions actuals, ja són poc o gens coneguts, i menys encara usats. La majoria corresponen al català que s’usava a
mitjan segle xx a l’àrea del Gironès, per bé que s’hi noten influències del parlar empordanès, i també del Pla de l’Estany i de la Garrotxa.
