Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is becoming more common every day, considered, according to the WHO, as one of the most important pandemic of the 21st century. More than 95% of people with diabetes have type 2 diabetes, and it is largely due to overweight and a lack in sport practicing. So, its increase in incidence can be attributed to lifestyle changes. This is the reason why it is important to stablish a healthy lifestyle, in order to prevent the disease and/or for a good control and treatment of the disease, in addition to physical activity and the indicated pharmacological treatment. The present study treats about the Mediterranean diet, which is recognized as one of the most balanced and healthiest diets in the whole world. It offers a huge variety of products and different ways of cooking that allow you to combine pleasure with nutritional balance. At the same time, several studies put on the spotlight the role of this kind of diet in the promotion and prevention of different diseases, as diabetes mellitus. Objectives: The main objective of this study is to identify the adherence to the Mediterranean diet in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus but poorly controlled. The specific objectives are to identify the degree of adherence to the Mediterranean diet in this kind of patients, considering different factors such as age, sex, and the association with other metabolic health problems ​
