Adam Smith’s labor theory of value has generated deep controversies in the history of economic thought. One of the main difficulties is to explain the transmission of value from production costs to consumer goods. Marginalist revolution was an entry of fresh air into the economic analysis that, at the same time, recovered the trend prior to Smith. In this work I will examine critically the labor theory of value and compare it with the theory of marginal utility ​
