Dos nuevas continuaciones para el Espejo de príncipes y caballeros

I give a notice of two new manuscript sequels of Espejo de príncipes y caballeros: a Quinta parte, different from the previously known one, and a Sexta parte. Both were written by the lawman Juan Cano López, who performed the profession of «escribano real» in Madrid between 1609 and 1639. Both parts can be dated between 1637 and 1640. In this paper, after a brief presentation of the manuscripts, I argue that they were written as a unique text, a sequel of the last edition of the whole cycle, published in Zaragoza between 1617 and 1623. Finally, I conclude that books of chivalry have remained in the public’s taste even after the publication of Quijote ​
