El repte de l'ensenyament de les humanitats a la universitat: connectar amb la societat

This paper analyses the current state of humanities studies in the university. While the challenges of today's world entail a need to reinforce competencies such as the interpretation of information, the capacity for spoken and written expression, and critical thinking skills, our facul- ties continue to see falling numbers of students. To counteract the decline, we consider it neces- sary to incorporate new teaching methodologies that are more in line with the needs of a new generation of permanently connected students, the university's outward opening towards its social and business environment to foster employability, and the incorporation of compulsory work placements within our course curriculums ​
