Abstract

Although the city was founded to control a strategically important crossroads, between its foundation and the year 1285 we have documented only two confirmed sieges and, occasionally, the presence of enemy armies in the vicinity. We believe this is clear evidence of the advantages of the site and the effectiveness of its fortifications

Malgrat que la ciutat va néixer per controlar una importantíssima cruïlla de camins, entre la fundació i l’any 1285 només tenim documentats dos setges segurs i, puntualment, la presència d’exèrcits enemics en la proximitat. Pensem que és una prova fefaent dels avantatges del lloc i d’unes muralles excel·lents
