Abstract

Girona was never seen as an industrial city, but rather as a city dominated, during the industrialisation period, by the city’s resident landowners. This article attempts to recreate the atmosphere of Girona’s high society at that time in order to contextualise two key names in its industrialisation: the Planas family, in the first half of the 19th century, and the Count of Berenguer, at the beginning of the 20th century

Girona no ha estat mai vista com una ciutat industrial i sí, en canvi, com una ciutat dominada, a l’etapa de la industrialització, pels rendistes residents a la ciutat. En aquest article, s’intenta recrear l’ambient de l’alta societat gironina en aquell temps, per tal de contextualitzar dos noms clau de la seva industrialització: els Planas, a la primera meitat del segle XIX, i el Comte de Berenguer, ja a començaments del segle XX
