This work analyses the impact of the US military presence in Spain between 1939 and 1960, with special attention to the Pení base and the American colony established in Figueres and Roses. The main objective is to understand how Spanish foreign policy, marked by initial isolation and pacts with the United States, led to the establishment of joint military bases. The hypothesis proposes that this presence significantly influenced daily life, urban planning and local culture.
The research is based on documentary sources, oral testimonies and historical analysis, using a qualitative methodology. The historical context includes the Second World War, the evolution of Spanish international relations and bilateral agreements with the USA. The work describes in detail the Pení base, the life of Americans in the area, their leisure activities, housing and the influence of the American life model
