This work analyses two projects for the reception of Austrian children in Spain, specifically in the city of Olot, as a humanitarian response to the devastating consequences of the two world wars. The first block focuses on the effects of the First World War on Austria and the subsequent reception initiative, detailing the origin of the children, the countries involved, their arrival in Spain, the role of the sponsoring organisations, life with the host families, their return to Austria and the assessment of the experience. The second block follows a similar structure, but in the context of the Second World War, highlighting the differences and continuities with respect to the first project. The work concludes with a reflection on the social and emotional impact of these stays, the memory that has endured, and a personal opinion that provides a critical and empathetic look at international solidarity
