ENG - This work is carried out through the following specific objectives: 1) Analyze the physical activity habits of adolescents and their relationship with sociodemographic variables, 2) Analyze the relationship between physical activity habits and subjective well-being, along with the potential moderating effect of sociodemographic variables and, 3) Analyze the mediating effect of emotional self-regulation in the relationship between physical activity habits and subjective well-being in adolescents. To fulfill the thesis objectives, three studies were conducted with a sample of 9,585 adolescents, students from 5th grade of primary school to 4th grade of secondary education, aged between 10 and 20 years, and belonging to public schools, state-subsidized private schools, and private schools in the main regions of Chile. The sample was selected through a two-stage stratified probabilistic sampling. The first sampling unit was the school, and then the class for each of the educational levels considered (primary and secondary). For the evaluation of the considered constructs, a self-administered questionnaire with different scales was used, which was applied in educational centers during regular class hours, in the presence of a teacher, while preserving the rights and privacy of the participating students. The first study, titled "Physical activity habits and their relationship with sociodemographic factors in Chilean adolescents," aimed to analyze physical activity habits and their relationship with sociodemographic variables (Specific objective 1). An adapted version of the Eating and Physical Activity Habits scale was used for this purpose. The results showed that physical activity habits were clearly below international recommendations. A significant association was found between the studied sociodemographic variables (gender, age, and school vulnerability) and the physical activity habits reported by adolescents. Through multivariate regression, it was established that the risk of not following physical activity recommendations was 2.8 times higher in girls than in boys, 2.4 times higher in middle and late adolescence compared to early adolescence, and 1.1 times higher in the group from schools with greater school vulnerability. The second study, titled "The Moderating role of sociodemographic factors in the relationship between physical activity and subjective well-being in Chilean children and adolescents," aimed to analyze the moderating effect of sociodemographic variables and the possible interaction of these moderations in the relationship between physical activity and subjective well-being in adolescents (Specific objective 2). Simple moderation analyses revealed that the older the age and the lower the school vulnerability, the stronger the relationship between physical activity habits and subjective well-being. From the double moderation analysis, it was observed that the age of the subjects is the most relevant moderator, significantly influencing the strength of the relationship found between physical activity habits and subjective well-being in young people. Finally, the third article, titled "Mediation effect of emotional self-regulation in the relationship between physical activity and subjective well-being in Chilean adolescents," aimed to examine the mediating effect of emotional self-regulation in the relationship between physical activity habits and subjective well-being in adolescents (Specific objective 3). Self-regulation, subjective well-being, and physical activity habits were measured using self-administered questionnaires. Analyses for the main study variables show significant differences when comparing groups by gender, age group, and socioeconomic status. Physical activity habits were positively related to subjective well-being and emotional self-regulation. Likewise, emotional self-regulation was positively related to subjective well-being. The mediation analysis showed a partial mediating effect of self-regulation in the relationship between physical activity habits and subjective well-being
