English Title. Life and death in Seville of the playwright Damián Salucio del Poyo. Despite some meritorious researcher’s efforts to discern the correct data from the sources that created confusion by referring to homonymous characters, little is known about the life of the playwright Damián Salucio del Poyo. This article addresses his life’s last period, which commenced in Seville at the beginning of 1606 or shortly before. Although starting with the contributions of previous scholars, this work establishes Salucio del Poyo’s very controversial and doubtful –until now– birth date and familial ties
from mostly unpublished documentation. Furthermore, this work’s conclusions rebuild Salucio del Poyo’s relationships with theater company directors – comedy authors – and actors, as well as with other comedy playwrights. Last, this publication alludes to his ecclesiastical benefits, activities, business, and finally, his death in Seville, which occurred before December 1621
