This work consists of the realization of a mycological inventory of the landscaped spaces of
the campus of Montilivi of the University of Girona. The main objective is to improve the
knowledge of the fungal community present in the Campus, as well as to associate it to the
climatic conditions of the area and the human management of the spaces which can directly
or indirectly affect the fructification in the spaces.
The inventory consisted of 3 samplings, one in late autumn and two in spring, of 15 plots
spread over the campus with a total surface area of approximately 13,200 m². The
identification of the species was carried out “in situ”, as well as the annotation of their
abundance by observing the number of fructifications. In the case of the species that not could
be identified “in situ”, a sample of the fungus was taken and later analyzed with a microscope
in the laboratory. All the fungi identified in the samplings have been annotated in an Excel with
all the relevant information of their ecology when sampled, and expanded with their group and
family. With the data obtained in this sampling, together with the data obtained in previous
samplings, graphs have been made showing the fungal diversity and ecological role of these,
as well as analyzing the differences between the plots to check if there are differences
between them. To conclude, a statistical analysis of the biodiversity of the campus has been
carried out with the Shannon-Wiener index (H') and the equitability index (E).
The inventory is composed of 22 species from 10 different families of fungi, all from the
Basidiomycota group. The dominant species of the community is Marasmius oreades which
makes up 61% of the community. The 91% of the community is composed of saprophytic
species with the remaining 9% being mycorrhizal and with an absence of parasitic species.
The bad weather conditions have negatively affected the autumn sampling where the drought
has caused a great decrease in the number of mushrooms inventoried. This has been
reflected in the decrease in community diversity also caused by the bias between autumn and
spring. The inventory is not fully representative of the real community and the sampling effort
should be increased and expanded with the help of sequencing techniques to increase the
number of species inventoried
