This review is the result of synthetically expanding the presentation on the sculptor Nicolau de Marville, also named Colí, announced and outlined in the VIIth Girona History Congress, I intend here to describe a first approach to the sculpture of archangel Saint Gabriel, which can be found at the pillar beside the Gospel of the presbytery in the cathedral of Girona. It is an image unpaired that we associate with Colí, also master builder, active in our city where he married, obtained citizenship and most probably opened a workshop where he must have attended several commands. His participation in the cloister of Ripoll is documented and fully studied, but his activity in Girona was almost unknown until now. Relying on some documents one can assume that his stay in Girona must have been productive and notorious enough, not only for his relationship withthe main master builders in the city among whom Pere Sacoma, Guillem Bofill and Guillem Morei— but also because it wouldn’t be misguided to grant Colí the magnificent image of Saint Gabriel, with all the necessary caution and depending on its validity in a further, wider and detailed study, as well as his contribution in the lying count sculptures of Ramon Berenguer II and Ermesenda, until recently granted to Guillem Morei
