El turismo como contexto para la transformación personal

ENG- This work focuses on the human dimension of tourism, specifically on its potential to be a context of personal transformation. The main objective of the work is to investigate the deep meaning of travel based on the conceptualizations and stories that appear in academic documents in the fields of the humanities and social sciences. Based on this, the theoretical bases are formulated that describe the power of the round trip to transform the individual. Thus, we begin by relating the contemporary Western journey to the mythic and literary tradition: the journey as a metaphor for life and also as a threshold. This idea develops in parallel with the evolution of higher tourism studies, originally linked to the needs of the tourism industry and which, until now, have lacked an epistemological and ontological dimension (some authors, especially in "the peripheries" have begun to approach it). Once the human dimension of tourism has been described, the work collects the foundations of personal transformation from both psychology and philosophy. This prepares the ground for establishing the intersections between tourist practice (round trip) and the possibility for personal transformation. Some have already been addressed, directly or indirectly: von Humboldt spoke of the Fermweh or Magherini of the Stendhal syndrome; hypermobility and the ability to integrate have become a topic of interest; along with the ability to wonder (sense of wonder), to give some examples. Based on these traces between the incipient discipline of tourism (tourismology), psychology and philosophy, the systematic review of the bibliography is proposed based on the documents retrieved from repositories of doctoral theses and academic articles. Using the thematic analysis method, a battery of processes and items that intervene in personal transformation through tourism is proposed, which we can summarize into 5 large groups: the trip as a theme, the components external to the traveller, internal components of the traveller, the capture of the experience and the shared utility. It is important to note that the aspects of tourism that contribute to personal development are the same as any other phenomenon of the human experience. In addition, elements that until now have been little taken into account are presented as important in the tourist experience: curiosity, the tension novelty - safety, the ability to integrate the experience (affected, for example, by the weather) and relations with travel and host communities
