Lo de 'ahí abajo': arte feminista, autoconocimiento y representaciones vúlvicas en los setenta

Abstract

This article proposes an approach to vulvic iconology or cunt art that became popular in feminist art during the 1970s. Against the tendency to reduce them to a reading based on essentialism, we will analyze them in relation to their more immediate political, philosophical and militant context. Thus, we will explore the relationship of these artistic practices with the formulation of female sex as 'the horror of nothing to see', by Luce Irigaray (1977), or the self-help movement, also known as self-knowledge and self-management of sexuality

Este artículo propone una aproximación a la iconología vúlvica o arte coño, que se popularizaró en el arte feminista durante la década de los años setenta. En contra la tendencia de reducirlas a una lectura esencialista, las analizaremos en relación con su contexto político, filosófico y militante más inmediato. Así, exploraremos la relación de estas prácticas artísticas con la formulación del sexo femenino como "el horror del nada que ver", según Luce Irigaray (1977), o el movimiento self-help, también conocido como autoconocimiento y autogestión de la sexualidad
