Noves excavacions a la ciutadella de Roses. De la vila medieval a la conversió en un espai militar

Abstract

The article synthetically presents the results of the last five years of excavations in the medieval town of Roses. Archaeological work has revealed an important part of the layout of the streets Major and Nou, which connected the port area with the monastery of Santa Maria, as well as the blocks that flank them, providing new data on the social urban structure and its evolution. These excavations have contributed important novelties to the knowledge of the medieval population, but also of the processes of destruction and restructuring produced after its abandonment during the Catalan Revolt with the total militarization of the space

L'article presenta de forma sintètica els resultats dels darrers cinc anys d'excavacions a la vila medieval de Roses. Els treballs arqueològics han permès posar al descobert una part important dels traçats dels carrers Major i Nou, que connectaven la zona del port amb el monestir de Santa Maria així com de les illes de cases que els flanquegen, aportant noves dades sobre l'estructuració urbana de la població i la seva evolució. Aquests treballs han aportat importants novetats en el coneixement de la població en època medieval, però també dels processos de destrucció i reestructuració produïts després del seu abandonament durant la guerra dels Segadors amb la total militarització dels espais
