A total solar eclipse is one of the most spectacular nature’s shows and a significant motivation for many people to travel and see the totality as a once in a lifetime experience. Host communities within the path of totality often hold big events to celebrate the solar eclipse. Events provide unique opportunities to flourish tourism at destinations. They are tourist attractions and image makers or a reason for visitors already in an area to stay longer. Planning and managing events can be a challenging process especially when it comes to mega events. Spain will have a unique opportunity to experience three solar eclipses in 2026, 2027 and 2028. Millions of observers including Spanish inhabitants and many international travelers are predicted to observe those phenomena in Spain. The findings show remarkable potential in Spain to obtain sustainable tourism development and long-term benefits through early planning based on awareness and collaboration. This work argues sustainable solutions on planning, managing and holding the solar eclipse events in Spain according to the astronomical facts and tourism potentials. Moreover, the thesis suggests the most necessary actions and activities to be accomplished in line with the objectives of this research. The applied methodology is qualitative with the participation of ten tourism authorities of the public sector as well as sixty astrotourism activists of the private sector
