This work is about the study and creation of a transverse flute, a woodwind instrument with many years of history. This instrument has been present in many cultures throughout time, and it is a beautiful and popular resource to express feelings and emotions. The sounds produced by the flute have a physical explanation, which is the subject of psychoacoustics. Relating physics to music can be very positive to understand the functioning of such a beautiful thing as musical sound. In my work I have described how it works, the physical formulas that govern it, its different components and I have investigated its origin and history. I have also designed, created and enabled a model of a 3D printed flute of resin and plastic. Finally, I have analyzed the sound characteristics of the transverse 3D printed flute, and I have compared them with those of an industrialized brass flute, in order to determine whether the material it is made of determines its sound quality
