In “Lluçanès”, there has always been a high percentage of the population dedicated to cattle and agriculture. Some years ago, we only found farms with a self-consumption model, but since 1999 it has disappeared, and most of the pig farms that we find are part of an industrial production model. From this point, the aims of my work have been: to understand what the current situation of pig farming is and what has happened to reach this point, to investigate on the impacts on the territory, and finally, to find out if it would be possible to implement the model of ecological pig farming, with the hypothesis that it would not be possible. To carry out the research, I have done a documentary research based on an official DARP document. In addition, I have interviewed different profiles of people from “Lluçanès”, and finally I have visited one ecological pig farming farm, and a closed cycle pig farm, as well. After the research and having achieved my aims, I have come to the conclusion that the current pig situation generates a great environmental and economic impact on the land and on the inhabitants of our territory, so although new methods have been implemented to reduce this impact and contribute to the improvement of the situation, apply the system of ecological pig farming or increase closed-cycle farms, the last one more viable, would be two options to improve the situation of this sector
