The following research emerges from the wanting of understanding the role of mathematics in music. This large thematic has been approached from an investigation on the violins and their sound, not only from an acoustical perspective but also from a historical and technological point of view. The memory consists of a bibliographic research on violin history and the meticulous overview of all of its parts and pieces, followed by a vision of the physics of waves and sound, and the mathematical features of the musical scale.
