The so-called evidence cannot be considered proof of crimes before a probatory meaning is imposed on them, but this meaning is more problematic than accusatory speeches are willing to admit. This article intends to discuss the different theories of meaning found in the philosophy of language in dialogue with the philosophy of mind, seeking to answer what we can consider probatory meaning in a criminal procedural context. We will seek to emphasize how the pragmatic dimension is especially relevant to achieve any meaning, especially in matters of criminal proof. In the end, we hope to make evident that the probatory meaning depends on many ideological elements that contribute to a conclusion about what is proof of a crime
