Cambios aspectuales en la evolución de los verbos psicológicos del español

This paper focuses on the diachronic study of the psychological verbs classified by Belletti and Rizzi (1987) as 3rd group and it analyses their aspectual behaviour. Besides, we divide them, at the same time, into three different types: a) those that could be used in unaccusative configurations with a dative object; b) Latin verbs that did not develop the unaccusative structures with datives until Romance; and c) verbs of Romance genesis. We put forward that the different etymological origins of these three subclasses determine their syntactic and aspectual characteristics to a great extent
