De la direccionalidad a la negación: evolución semántica de los verbos desviar y evitar

Abstract

This paper focuses on the comparative analysis of the conceptual structures associated with the verbs desviar and evitar from a diachronic point of view. Along the evolution, these verbs have developed some meanings that express directionality, as well as a particular value that conveys implicit negation. The present study argues in favour of regarding the meanings implying negation as a derivation from the ones denoting directionality, and puts forward that both kinds of values may be associated to the same conceptual structure

Este trabajo se centra en el análisis comparativo de la estructura conceptual de los verbos desviar y evitar desde una perspectiva diacrónica. A lo largo de la evolución, estas dos voces han desarrollado acepciones que expresan direccionalidad y una acepción común que lleva implícita una negación. El presente estudio defiende que la acepción que implica negación se deriva de las que denotan direccionalidad, y que una y otras pueden asociarse a la misma estructura conceptual
