The city of Tarragona was reoccupied between the 11th and 12th centuries in the process of expanding the county of Barcelona. Then the old Visigothic Terracona, disarticulated since the Islamic conquest (713-717) returns to urban life. The old Roman walls are repaired and extended in the Part Alta while in the rest of the perimeter, they are abandoned and dismantled to recycle the materials ​
