Relations between the Cuban Revolution and the PCE were subject, during the first five years of the revolution, to the tensions of the Cold War, to the misunderstandings generated by relations between Franco’s Spain and Cuba, and to the disagreements arising from the paths to be taken in the struggle against Francoism. In this context, anti-imperialism was articulated as an area of under-standing that ended up having an impact on the arguments of the Spanish communists ​
