Introduction: The consumption of substances remains one of the most important public health problems. The most toxic substances consumed by the population are alcohol, tobacco and cannabis, but opioids still account for most of the damage attributed to the use of illegal drugs: from overdoses, turnips to communicable diseases due to the sharing of consumer material. Harm reduction is a set of strategies and programmes aimed at reducing the negative effects of drug use with the aim of decreasing the consequences and accompanying the person at all times. So harm reduction measures would reduce the harm and risk of drug users. Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of harm reduction nursing intervention in people who use drugs. Material and methods: The study population will be people diagnosed with an opioid use disorder, who are linked to the Centre d’Atenció i Seguiment a les drogodependències in Girona. Harm reduction is a set of strategies and programmes aimed at reducing the negative effects of drug use with the aim of decreasing the consequences and accompanying the person at all times. A seven-session harm reduction nursing intervention will be carried out, which will be evaluated through a quasi-experimental pre-post study, through an ad-hoc questionnaire and the Overdose Risk Information (ORION) questionnaire. A univariate and bivariate descriptive analysis will be carried out taking into account the ethical aspects of all research
