Background: Eating disorders (ED) are serious diseases associated with high morbidity and mortality, marked deterioration and poor quality of life. They are characterized by persistent feeding disturbance that may include food restriction or inappropriate compensatory behaviors. Many transgender and gender diverse people dip into unsafe methods, including disordered eating behaviors, to align their bodies with their gender identity and thus alleviate their gender dysphoria. Objective: To know, based on scientific evidence, whether there is a relationship between gender dysphoria and eating disorders that explains its high incidence in transgender people. Methods: A bibliographic review of the current literature in the databases MEDLINE Pubmed, Elsevier Scopus, APA PsycInfo, Cinahl, SciELO and Cochrane Library was carried out. The research was conducted between the months of February, March, and April 2023. The articles were published during the period 2018 – 2023 and have been selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Outcomes: In total, 14 articles have been included in the literature review according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The selected case studies present adolescents with an initial diagnosis of ED leading to the manifestation of gender dysphoria. Conclusions: The symptoms of eating disorders in transgender people are secondary to gender dysphoria. Partnering with an interdisciplinary team will help better articulate an appropriate treatment plan for this population
