The presence of the coastal savin (Juniperus turbinata Guss.) on the Catalan coast, its geographical distribution on a detailed scale and the comparison of its structure and dynamics with some coastal savins (Juniperetum lyciae Molinier ex O. Bolòs 1967) from the island of Mallorca have been studied. Coastal savins show a preference for aeolian deposits of sand, although isolated individuals are also found on rocky calcarenite substrates located on the shore. Phytosociologically, they fit into the Juniperetum lyciae association, although some characteristic species of the alliance and association are missing. Due to the intense urbanization of nearby areas, the coastal savin supports a high level of human activity, which causes the compaction and erosion of the aeolian mantle of sand that serves as a substrate, as well as competition with species such as pines and mastic that endangers its conservation in the medium term
