The objective of this research is to analyze in a comparative way the rights recognized to people who request and receive refugee status in Ecuador and Spain, through the study of current national and international regulations, doctrine and jurisprudence. The rights of refugees have been gaining prominence due to the high numbers of arrivals of people seeking international protection in each of these countries. Ecuador is currently at the head of South America with the highest number of refugees, and Spain is third in the world in refugee applications. Harmonizing public policies on refuge in the context of national circumstances and legal systems with international regulations is one of the challenges in both countries. The reception of refugees, as well as the mechanisms to guarantee social rights, such as work and social security, are challenges that both states focus on as a priority. For this reason, any contribution that is made, whether material or doctrinal, as is the case in this work, can contribute to a better protection of the rights of millions of people who currently flee their countries of origin or residence for reasons beyond their control. at will in search of international protection
