El movimiento social cristiano en los siglos I al IV: un análisis sociológico de la historia

Abstract

“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Mt.6, 7-15) This prayer attributed to Jesus by the Synoptic Gospels, read in its historical-sociological context, clearly indicates the call for a new society, the "Kingdom of God or of Heaven", to be established in the known world.

This work, using current historical data and with the help of the perspective and concepts of social sciences adapted to antiquity, especially of sociology, socially and politically contextualizes the interpretation of known facts and sayings related to the movement of Jesus of Nazareth; from the social factors that conditioned its birth, to those that explain the characteristics of its expansion in Rome. Also contextualized are its interactions and interdependencies with the Roman Empire that account for its transformation, in the fourth century, into the Institution of a modified Roman Empire called Roman Christian.

From this analytical perspective, it is shown that the original Christianity was an alternative and peaceful social movement that created communities or assemblies (ecclesias) which, due to their beliefs and social practices, were an embryo of the future "Kingdom of God", and its singularity, within Judaism, consisted of making the "Kingdom of Heaven" real, to promote in this way its definitive arrival on earth as a whole

“Vingui a nosaltres el teu regne, faci's la teva voluntat a la terra com al cel” (Mt.6, 7-15). Aquesta oració atribuïda a Jesús pels evangelis sinòptics, llegida en el seu context històric-sociològic, indica amb claredat que es demanava una nova societat, el “Regne de Déu o dels Cels”, es constituís al món conegut.

Aquest treball, valent-se de les dades històriques vigents i amb l'ajuda de la perspectiva i dels conceptes de les ciències socials adaptats a l'antiguitat, especialment de la sociologia, contextualitza socialment i políticament la interpretació dels fets i dites coneguts relacionats amb el moviment de Jesús Nazareno, des dels factors socials que van condicionar el seu naixement, als que expliquen les característiques de la seva expansió a Roma, així com les seves interaccions i interdependències amb l'Imperi Romà que donen compte de la seva transformació, al segle IV, a Institució de un modificat Imperi Romà denominat: Romà Cristià.

A partir d'aquesta perspectiva analítica es mostra que el cristianisme original era un moviment social alternatiu i pacífic que creava comunitats o assemblees (ecclesies) que per les seves creences i pràctiques socials eren un embrió del futur “Regne de Déu”, i la seva singularitat, al si del judaisme, consistia en fer real el “Regne dels Cels” per promoure, així, la seva arribada definitiva a tota la terra
