Les conseqüències psicològiques de la violència obstètrica: revisió bibliogràfica

Introducció: Obstetric violence is a form of mistreatment of women by health professionals involved in the process of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. This violence causes physical and psychological negative consequences in women’s health. Respectful maternal care by all professionals involved during pregnancy can improve the physical but also mental health of women giving birth. Psychological disorders that arise in the postpartum can be caused by disrespectful care during childbirth. Objectiu: Describe the short- and long-term psychological consequences of women suffering obstetric violence during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. Material i mètodes: A literature review was conducted using the PubMed, PsycInfo, and Scopus databases from January to March of 2022. The search was limited to articles published between 2017 and 2022. The study was carried out with a total of 13 articles selected according to the, previously agreed, inclusion and exclusion criteria. Resultats: Selected studies show that obstetric violence has psychological consequences, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Postpartum Depression, on women who suffer this kind of violence during childbirth ​
