The aim of the project is based on the creation of a prototype of a remake of the video game Donkey Kong Country 2 (1995) using the video game engine Unreal Engine 4, and focusing all its development on the visual scripting system Blueprints offered by the engine. With the aforementioned objective, the aim is to follow the bases of the game, together with a redesign and improvement both playable and visual thanks to the technological characteristics offered by the engine. To do this, it will be necessary to analyse the particularities offered by the engine, and to learn how Blueprints development works, as well as the pipeline necessary for the inclusion of assets.
Before going into more details, we will explain in a general way the concept behind this videogame. It is a prototype of a possible remake of the classic game Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (1995). Both the developed game and the classic game belong to the side-scrolling platform genre, where gameplay is the most important pillar. For that reason, one of the main motivations of the project has been to bring back one of the great titles of the genre by using today's new technologies to achieve things that were not possible to do before.
