In this text author gives a brief description of some language-related issues spoken on the island of Ireland. The author refers to general aspects such as affiliation, the number of speakers or the legal and de facto status it has in the different administrative territories where it is spoken. She also briefly describes some typological aspects, most of which are shared with the other languages of the Goidelic group of the Celtic family ​
