El conjunt ceràmic del pou del pati de la Pia Almoina (Banyoles, Pla de l’Estany)

Abstract

In 1958, during restoration work on the ‘Pia Almoina’ medieval building in Banyoles, a well filled with hundreds of ceramic vessels was discovered. The aim of this paper is to analyse this exceptional finding in a general way. It delves into aspects such as the well’s construction date and the study of the pottery jugs used to extract the water. We also examine the use of the well as a pottery dump to fill up its structure, between the 17 th and 19 th centuries, and we suggest an origin for these pieces

L’any 1958, durant unes obres de rehabilitació a l’edifici de la Pia Almoina de Banyoles, va descobrir-se un pou reblert amb centenars de peces ceràmiques. En el present article s’analitza, de manera global, aquest singular conjunt, tot intentant aprofundir en aspectes com la data de construcció del pou i l’estudi dels atuells usats per extreure l’aigua. S’analitzen, també, els successius abocaments de ceràmica esdevinguts entre els segles XVII i XIX, una vegada el pou ja estava en desús, i es proposa un origen per aquestes peces
