In 1958, during restoration work on the ‘Pia Almoina’ medieval building in Banyoles, a well filled with hundreds of ceramic vessels was discovered. The aim of this paper is to analyse this exceptional finding in a general way. It delves into aspects such as the well’s construction date
and the study of the pottery jugs used to extract the water. We also examine the use of the well
as a pottery dump to fill up its structure, between the 17
th
and 19
th
centuries, and we suggest an
origin for these pieces
