Región y revolución liberal en el Perú hispano: las diputaciones provinciales (1820-1824)

The Spanish Constitution of 1812 established the provincial council as an elective institution, and endowed it with various pow-ers taxation, public works, education, welfare, justice, territorial de-marcation, directives to the deputies of the Cortes, overseas missions, etc. With respect to the case of Peru (1812-1814 and 1820-1824), the following will be analysed: the electoral processes, the prosopogra-phy and governing actions of the deputies, and their relationships with other state organisms and their influence on regional political dynam-ics. The subjects must be understood within the context of the wars of Independence and confrontation of different liberal projects ​
