Macrocyclic chemistry. From anion recognition to the reactivity of their copper complexes

Macrocyclic ligands and its complexes have been studied in a wide variety of fields, among them bioinorganic chemistry.
In this work it is reported three studies of macrocyclic species under three points of view.
Firstly, the interaction between the macrocyclic ligand P3 and three isomeric carboxylic diacids are studied through means of potentiometric titrations, NMR studies and computational methods.
In the second part, a new family of macrocyclic iminic ligands is synthesized as long as their dinuclear Cu(I) complexes. These have been studied as a nuclease mimics with DNA through means of circular dicroism, agarose gel electrophoresis, and atomic force microscopy. A difference of the activity, depending on the structure of the complex, have been clearly observed.
Finally, it is studied the reorganization of the macrocyclic cavity leading to a larger ring that some of the iminic ligands undergo when in contact with Cu(I).
