Diplomacia y arqueología en el Sur Peninsular: un caso de intervención cultural extranjera en España durante la Gran Guerra

Share
In the wake of the historiographic renewal of the international studies of the Great War in recent decades, coinciding with the widening of research on Spanish neutrality throughout the conflict, this article proposes to assess certain aspects of cultural mobilization over Spain between 1914 and 1918. To achieve this aim, firstly, foreign cultural action will be analysed focusing on the activity developed by Germany and France in Spain. Secondly, the links between diplomacy and archaeology in the south of the Iberian Peninsula will be examined in connection with the allied strategy. Particularly, the cases of the Anglo-Spanish School of Archaeology and the archaeological campaign in Baelo Claudia will be explored here
