The genealogical play Los Tellos de Meneses by Lope de Vega was successfully adapted in the 19th century by Bretón de los Herreros, one of the most relevant playwrights of the century and, less than a hundred years later, in the early 20th century, by the sainetes writer Tomás Luceño.
