Catalanismo y antifascismo entre Cataluña y el separatismo radical ultramarino durante la Guerra Civil Española: el rol del Butlletí Especial per als Catalans Absents de la Pàtria, 1937-1939

Abstract

During the first half of the 20th century, the connections of inland Catalanism with the «Catalans of America», the sector of emigrants and exiles that followed its precepts on American soil, experienced great growth. During the Spanish Civil War, the group actively collaborated in humanitarian tasks and antifascist consciousness among the American collective. In order to consolidate this bond with Catalonia, the Comissariat de Propaganda de la Generalitat published in Barcelona the Butlletí Especial per als Catalans Absents de la Pàtria. We will develop the first specific study of this source in the context of the Comissariat’s publications and analyse its formal aspects. We will also examine the historical causes of its emergence, in order to integrate it into the study of overseas Catalanism during the war. Finally, we will explore the characteristics that shaped the group’s commitment to the wartime scenario in Catalonia

Durante la primera mitad del siglo xx, las conexiones del catalanismo interior con los «catalanes de América», el sector de emigrantes y exiliados que lo apoyaron en tierras americanas, experimentaron un gran crecimiento. Durante la Guerra Civil Española, el grupo desarrolló tareas humanitarias y de concienciación antifascista entre el colectivo americano. Para reforzar esta vinculación con Cataluña, el Comissariat de Propaganda de la Generalitat de Catalunya editó en Barcelona el Butlletí Especial per als Catalans Absents de la Pàtria. Realizaremos el primer estudio específico de esta fuente enmarcándola en el contexto de las publicaciones del Comissariat y analizaremos sus aspectos formales. También examinaremos las causas históricas de su aparición, para integrarlo al estudio del catalanismo ultramarino durante la contienda. Finalmente, indagaremos en las características que marcaron el compromiso del grupo con la coyuntura bélica en Cataluña
