Perspectiva de Género en la Educación Universitaria: el Caso de los Grados en Turismo en Cataluña

As stated in the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 5, different regulations
and academic literature, the education of managers in a gender perspective is a
necessity and a requirement to achieve organizations that eliminate invisible male
norms and transform traditional gender relations. Thus, one of the challenges facing
current's society is to train and educate future executives on the relevance of gender
equality in future organizational structures. In this sense, this article aims to analyze
the design of the subjects and the assimilation of content among university students
of the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism and the Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality and
Tourism Management in Catalonia regarding the implementation of institutional
policies and private initiatives on gender equality. To do this, a review of the teaching
plans of the different public and private universities is carried out and data about the
knowledge of the students is collected through a dichotomous questionnaire. The
results indicate that, despite the gender perspective is slowly being incorporated into
university teaching of degrees in tourism, there is still a long way to go. Consequently,
the knowledge of the student community about this subject is still negligible
