During the last few years, some archaeological excavations have been carried out in two Catalan medieval sites, the deserted medieval village of L’Esquerda de Roda, in the Osona county, and in Santa Creu de Rodes, in the Alt Empordà county. Each one had very different geographic and socioeconomic characteristics, with special items, such as urbanism, construction techniques, land adaptation, origins and evolution, as well as the probable reasons for their desertion.
